What do you think his intentions were?

My boyfriend was at my house and he was offered to go out with his friends to a bar and he said he would stay with me just out of courtesy. And then later on he asks his friends through texting ( iwas sitting nex tto him and reading his text converstion) if they were going to pregame and they said yes and then he was about to put "ok well im about to see if i can come home" and then we went to my bedroom and he asked me if he could leave still. And i confronted him asking him why? because you want to drink? you were perfectly fine staying here but not you want to go because they are going to drink? and he kept saying he didn't ask if he could drink, but he knew that if he went with them he'd be drinking too. Was he about to ditch me for alcohol?
