Is the Sony NEX 3 a good camera?

I am looking to use it for like parties and light graffiti. Also I am going tons of places this summer, and I want to get some great pictures, because I am an amateur photographer, but I don't have that much money right now, so the Sony NEX 3 seems like a good choice. Is it?
