What is the measure of a dog's intelligence?

well we definitely differ in opinion on this ... feral dogs are sad not smart ... sad they have no home or anyone to care for them ... a feral dog's life is a short one and a dangerous one ... the average lifespan of a feral dog is 5-7 years so they are not that strong considering pampered pooches live upwards of 17 years ... and it takes no iq just to survive because most don't survive ... it does take iq to learn tricks ... maybe if you owned a dog and put some energy into training a dog, you would know there are dogs smart enough to learn "stupid stunts" and there are dogs that are not smart enough ... and feral dogs can do nothing but be feral, they rarely can be rehabilitated making them a sad waste ... and you said a pampered pooch could not survive on it's own, well i went camping with a friend and her shih tzu cross poodle got lost and was lost for 43 days in the wilderness ... and the dog survived ... don't assume because an animal is cared for and loved that it's dog instincts will not kick in when needed ...
